How to choose the right paper bag
1. Pick the stock by what the bag carries
Light items such as jewellery, cosmetics or accessories need less board than apparel, shoes or boxed gifts. As a rule of thumb, small bags work well in lighter art card, while garment and shoe bags need heavier board. Tell us the heaviest item the bag must carry and we will recommend the GSM.
2. Decide on lamination
Matte lamination gives the understated premium look luxury brands prefer and protects the print. Soft-touch (velvet) lamination feels luxurious in hand but can show fingerprints and scuff marks with heavy handling — an anti-scuff soft-touch film reduces this. Gloss makes colours pop. Prefer to avoid lamination? An aqueous coating protects the print with a lamination-free finish. Unlaminated Kraft reads natural and eco-friendly and is easiest to recycle.
3. Protect your brand colour
Share your brand colour references. We print to them and keep an approved sample on file, so a reorder next season matches the bags already in your stores.
4. Choose handles for the experience
Ribbon, cotton rope and satin-feel knitted rope feel premium in hand; jute rope gives a natural, eco look; twisted paper handles are economical and fully paper-based; die-cut handles suit flat, light items and keep the bag completely plastic-free.
